Draw 5 circles. Cross out 2. How many are not crossed? Write 5 − 2 = ?.
Step 3: Abstract Inverse
You know 3 + 2 = 5. What is 5 − 2? What is 5 − 3? How can one addition fact answer two subtraction questions?
